Indigenous Trades Exploration

Indigenous Trades Exploration

This one day Trades Exploration is for indigenous students in grade 9-11 who are interested in learning about a career in the trades. Students will explore trades opportunities through the lens of indigenous culture, working with indigenous TRU Red Seal Instructors and community members.

The event will be infused with celebrations of indigenous culture and supports for students to move toward post-secondary.  The day will begin with a gathering, welcome, prayers, and drumming.  There will be a “lunch and learn” with guests such as TRU’s elders and TRU’s Indigenous Future Students Department (recruiting). The lunch meeting will help students understand and engage in their next steps toward post-secondary opportunities and funding.
