Discover Day - Career Explorations
SD73 Trades and Transitions is piloting new Discover Days. These days provide grades 10-12 students across the district to explore and experience career areas that they are interested or passionate about. The aim of Discover Days is to support students to make successful transition decisions by providing opportunities to gain hands-on experiences.

Are you interested in work that makes a difference in your community? Join the SD73 Career Development Department to learn about community impact, non-profit careers, and volunteerism. This career experience starts at The Mustard Seed and then students tour several non-profit organizations on the People in Motion Bus. The tour includes Foundry, the Mount Paul Community Food Centre, Kamloops Aboriginal Friendship Society, and additional non-profit organizations such as KBIA. Hosted by the SD73 Career Development Department and Non-Profit Organizations. Date: October 17, 2024

Are you in Grade 10-12 and interested in the justice system and what it really means to be a lawyer? Join the Faculty of Law for a day at Thompson Rivers University to learn about the exciting opportunities that working in law can bring. This career experience will involve local judges, legal jeopardy, law students and a mock dispute. Hosted by the Faculty of Law. Date: November 15, 2024

Are you in Grade 10-12 and interested in a career in health care? Join the School of Nursing and the Faculty of Science at Thompson Rivers University for Discover Day. Explore hands-on experiences in advanced simulation labs, speak with employees from Interior Health, and familiarize yourself with the expansive career and educational opportunities in health care.
