Career Development Month
Career Development Month is dedicated to educating people about the competencies and resources needed to manage career choices. For our students in Kindergarten through Grade 12, we work with students to help them develop their skills and competencies, understand their passions and interests, connect who they are to potential preferred pathways, and develop a plan to identify their "next steps" after high school.
To celebrate Career Development Month, we are encouraging classrooms from Kindergarten to Grade 12 to take on a Career Education project in November. Every teacher that sends documentation of their class project by December 4th - be it a compilation video of student presentations or a photo of a bulletin board, for example - will receive a prize for every student for taking part in Career Development Month.
The following resources may support teachers in planning Career Development Month activities:
- K-3 Career Development Month Activities
- 4-7 Career Development Month Activities
- 8-12 Career Development Month Activities
- National Career Month Website
- Career Month Canada Poster
- Maker Way Design Thinking Resources
- Junior Dragon's Den Resource
- Note, the Junior Dragon's Den competition is not running this year, this resource is provided as a curricular support.
Please contact District Career Education Coordinator Allisson Badger (abadger@sd73.bc.ca) with any questions about participating. Completed projects can be submitted to tnt@sd73.bc.ca
